Quality Enhancement

It is a well known fact that a high-quality preschool experience is linked to better cognitive function, greater success in k-12 and ultimately higher rates of college graduates. Therefore, quality preschools are not just important they are imperative.

Preschool for All’s mission to enhance the quality of preschools in the Hueneme School District is achieved through workforce and site development strategies which include the following:

  • Specialized training provided to PfA site staff provides high-quality learning opportunities that meet their unique needs, expand their knowledge and skill base over time, and integrate evidence-based practices into their daily curriculum lesson plans. To learn more about upcoming training and Skill Builders click here News and Events

  • Technical assistance, offered on-site and monthly to PfA site staff, support and ensure the implementation of new skills learned during trainings and workshops.

  • Career Advisors, located on Community College campuses, assist early childhood educators with Professional Development Plans, Child Development Permit applications, and assistance with enrollment in stipend programs, such as CARES and AB 212.  For more information click here Career Advisors

  • Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS-R) has been adopted by PfA to assess the level quality of PfA sites.  Programs are assessed twice a year by an independent consultant.  PfA sites are encouraged to use the ECERS-R as a guide when setting up the classroom environment.  Additional, locally developed tools are also available; click here for the  ECERS Checklist and ECERS Cards

  • Quality Improvement Stipend Program is an additional support, for PfA sites, to assist with environment enhancement in order to improve Environment Rating Scale (ERS) scores.  Click here for the Quality Improvement Stipend Application, Agreement, and Reimbursement forms.

  • National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) established a national, voluntary accreditation system to set professional standards for early childhood education programs.  Preschool for All is promoting quality through accreditation and PfA sites are required to receive NAEYC accreditation within 5 years of becoming a PfA site.  More information about NAEYC click here NAEYC
